Unfortunately after step 9 I get the following error: UI Syntax Error
Invalid arguments for the SelectionBox widget. Check the log file!

Which environment do you use? KDE or Gnome?
Can you output log file for analyse?

openSUSE 11 worked fine using kinternet and firefox via dialup until I updated today using the update system. Now Firefox won't connect but Opera will. Firefox won't connect even if I run wvdial in a terminal before. I will check the current versions of kinternet, smppd, wvdial and wvstreams any other suggestions?

    •

Did you update firefox? If yes,
please check mozilla-xulrunner190 has also been updated.

I complete this setup, everything is OK, then out of carelessness, I removed the network manager icon from bottom panel, when I tried to undo this, I failed. How shall I do now?

Please try to click YaST-> Network Devices -> Network Settings then choose User Controlled with NetorkManager in Global Options

    •

Please ignore this ip address that is example.
You don't need to fix ip address, if you are using DHCP mode now.

You shall choose PPPoE or PPPoA mode, if you need to type username/password and then assign ip address.

      that was useful
I am new to Linux, and have the same problem
According to the above instructions I found the place to enter my user name and password,
but my Internet provider requires also to enter the Service name, on MS Windows its done from the properties of the internet connection (the General Tab), but on SuSE 11.1, i couldn't find the right spot to enter the service name, respectively, I could not log in to my IProvider only with my user name and pass.

Could it be similar to the Domain or smth, and where I can find these fields to fill in.
Can it be done from the console and how?

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
      Regards )

Edit: I am with KDE Desctop,
Found smth that could be useful, but its in Gnome Desctop

      Do you mean Provider Name?
You can choose provider and enter provider name.
About Domain field is not included in this Utility.

    •

My Broadband Connection Properties on Windows on the General Properties tab has the following:

      Service Name:....

I have to enter the following : "fl1" in order to use internet, otherwise if I only use my username and pass, I cant log to internet without the service name above to be filled with the "fl1"

The problem is - I cant find the right spot to enter the service name as required by my internet provider :((((

    •

Please fill your service name in the Provider Name field of Step 11.

    •

I have tried m8, it didnt work, I called my provider, to check if there is any problems with the connection, the answer was, that my Service name is not filled in order to connect.
I guess the problem can be somewhere else, I will keep trying,
      Thank you for your answers,
      Good Luck

P.S. I may try to reinstall the SuSE, at this point cant figure out smth. else

I have been trying to connect pppoe with OpenSUSE 11 for a few days now... but without any success.
I'm a newb... so pardon the dumb question; but how does one download the programs you are using (kinternet etc) without already having an internet connection?

    •

Please make sure the following packages have been installed in your openSUSE 11 first.

      kinternet-0.75-253.1.i586.rpm
      smpppd-1.59_SVN16-10.1.i586.rpm
      wvdial-1.60-31.1.i586.rpm

      Hi Bryan

Found your blogpost on PPPoE. I'm working on NetworkManager support for KDE for openSUSE 11.2. I would really like to have you as a PPPoE tester. I'm wstephenson suse de, or kde org.

      Will

    •

It's my honor to be a PPPoE tester, but i don't know which KDE version i need to test 3.x or 4.x or both gnome?
Which version of openSUSE 11.2 that is beta, rc or release?

    •

Sorry, i lose something about that you are a NetworkManager support for KDE for openSUSE 11.2, so forget gnome issue.
